Unlike later SCRIMP-infused J models, J/Boats' own text for the J/105 (1991 design) describes a conventional hand lay-up: 'polyester resin and biaxial glass fabrics' for the structural laminate, with a vinylester resin barrier coat only as an anti-blister skin coat -- classified here as polyester (majority/structural resin) rather than vinylester. Mast explicitly tapered aluminum. Verified 2026-07-09. [Rudder/tankage/electrical update, 2026-07-16]: Rudder is a large deep spade, consistent with J/Boats' fiberglass-construction practice across the range (shaft material not documented for this model). Fuel ~12gal, water only ~5gal -- the J/105 is a minimalist sport-cruiser with intentionally small tankage. No holding-tank or electrical-system data found.
