Hull is hand-laid solid fiberglass, tapering in thickness above the waterline; resin type not explicitly stated in available sources. One of the best-selling racer-cruisers of its era, ~6,000+ built. Verified 2026-07-09. [Rudder/tankage/electrical update, 2026-07-16]: Internally-mounted spade rudder (construction material not independently confirmed). No reliable fuel/water tank capacity found for the original 1971-1991 Catalina 27 (only data for the unrelated modern 275 Sport turned up, not used here).
